Key Highlights/Accomplishments: $35,570 annual cost savings, 86,182 kWh annual electrical savings, 40.3 years simple payback, and 333 tonnes of CO2

Scott Safety Centre

As the prime contractor, 3D Energy performed the vast majority of the work including the site visit, energy modeling, analysis, and reporting, with some mechanical & electrical support from our sister company Vital Engineering as needed. Located in the Town of Whitecourt, the Scott Safety Centre (Twin Arena) has two stories with a partial basement. The building has a total gross floor area of approximately 6,364 m², and houses two ice rinks; called the Athabasca Arena and the McLeod Arena. It also houses a lounge area, change rooms, corridors, lobby, storage rooms, mechanical and electrical room and administration space.

Energy Conservation Measures Implemented:

  • Replacement of the make-up air unit and rooftop unit;
  • LED lighting upgrade/retrofit; and
  • Installation of new insulation and reflective ceiling at the Athabasca Rink.
