Fishing Lake Senior’s Center is a community building located in Fishing Lake, Alberta. It was built in 1995 and contains residential apartments, the main lounge, kitchen, laundry, offices, administration areas, a locker room, and a large mechanical room. The Senior’s Centre has an Energy Utilization Index (EUI) of 1.31 GJ/m², which indicates that this facility consumes 8.3% more energy than a similar community building.
After visiting the site, 3D Energy Ltd performed an ASHRAE Level 2 energy audit of the Senior’s Center which determined 5 potential energy reduction solutions with a simple payback of 7.9 years. The recommended solutions included three lighting upgrades and an upgrade to the low flow fixtures. If implemented, the recommended ECMs would result in a 39% reduction in electricity consumption and a 3% increase in natural gas use. This is expected to provide $2,975 in annual savings and an annual reduction of 18.3 tons of GHG. This is equivalent to taking approximately 4 cars off the road.
